Newsroom (28/10/2021 21:30,Gaudium Press ) Today, 28 October, the Catholic Church celebrates the Liturgical Feast in honour of the Apostle St. Jude Thaddeus, known as the Saint of Impossible Causes. How did he come to have this title?
Apparitions of Our Lord to St. Bridget
Little known is the fact that the origin of the title of ‘Saint of Impossible Causes’ has a connection to St. Bridget. St. Bridget once had a vision of Our Lord Jesus Christ, and in this apparition, He advised her to go to St. Jude Thaddeus with great confidence.
Our Lord also instructed her to invoke the Saint by his surname, Thaddeus, the kind and loving, for in this way he would be more willing to help her in her material and spiritual needs.
The Saint of Impossible Causes
St. Bridget had yet another apparition from Our Lord Jesus Christ, Who then commanded her to dedicate an altar to the Apostle Saint Jude Thaddeus in her church. “The fifth altar must be to Thaddeus who, with the purity of his heart, will undoubtedly overcome the devil,” He said.
Although it is not certain exactly when St. Jude was associated with impossible causes, what is certain is that devotees of this Apostle of Our Lord Jesus Christ have attributed countless miracles obtained through their prayers to him. These facts strengthen the case of St. Jude being known as a worker of miracles.
