Newsroom(01/04/2025 18:14, Gaudium Press) The International Congress of Religious Tourism, which this year will follow the theme ‘Tourism and Development: Evangelization and Peace in the Territories‘, will be held from 5 to 19 May in Colombia. This itinerant event will tour ten cities in the country, starting with Bogotá.
An opportunity to reflect on faith, forgiveness, and hope
Organized by the Colombian Bishops’ Conference, the Global Religious Tourism Network, and the Minuto de Dios Organizational Corporation, the Congress is part of the celebration of the 2025 Jubilee, which is focused on hope. According to the event’s organizers, the proposal is for “an opportunity to reflect on Faith, forgiveness, and hope in a global context of transformation and challenges”.
Tourism as a tool to promote peace and reconciliation
“The Congress will explore how evangelization and tourism can boost the social and economic development of communities. Tourism will be highlighted as a tool to promote peace and reconciliation in Colombia,” they added. Religious leaders, tourism experts, and community representatives are invited to participate in this initiative.
Strengthening the management of religious tourism in Colombia
It is also hoped that the International Congress of Religious Tourism will help to “strengthen the management of religious tourism in Colombia, improve the country’s image as a reference in religious tourism, and contribute to evangelization and peace in the territories through tourism”. The other cities on the program are: Ibagué, Armero, Cartago, Guadalajara de Buga, Tuluá, Popayán, and Cartagena de Indias. (EPC)
