Newsdesk (14/03/2022 13:10, Gaudium PressThe former Anglican bishop, Jonathan Goodall, was ordained a Catholic priest last Saturday, March 12th.

The ordination Mass was celebrated by Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster.

Jonathan Goodall announced in September 2021 that he was resigning as Anglican Bishop of Ebbsfleet to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church.

At the age of 60, Goodall had been Bishop of Ebbsfleet since 2013. He served in the Anglican Church supporting congregations that do not recognize the priestly ordination of women.

Before that, however, Goodball held various positions with the Archbishop of Canterbury and also as a vicar priest at Westminster Abbey.

Fr. Goodall is the second Bishop of Ebbsfleet to convert to the Catholic Church. In 2010, Andrew Burnham resigned his position and was ordained a Catholic priest the following year.

In all, four Anglican bishops were received into full communion with the Catholic Church in 2021, they are: John Goddard, Michael Nazir-Ali, Peter Forster and Jonathan Goodall.

Father Jonathan Goodall will be pastor of St. William of York Church in London, a parish in the Archdiocese of Westminster. (FM)
