Newsroom (08/19/2021 10:35 AM, Gaudium Press) Last Wednesday afternoon, August 18, Fr. Joshephat Kasambula of the Diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana was murdered in cold blood in Uganda, allegedly by a drug addict.
Stabbed in the back
The priest was supervising the work being done in the field. When the priest encountered the killer, he asked him who had authorized his entry. The killer struck Fr Kasambula in the back with a blunt object, causing his death.
The alleged perpetrator is known to be a drug addict. It is believed that he was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the brutal crime. The land belonged to the priest’s family, and the suspect took advantage of the lack of surveillance to settle there for some time.
Parish priest of Lwamata
Father Joshephat Kasambula, 68, served in the Diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana as pastor of Lwamata. Police have requested an autopsy on the priest’s body as searches continue for the killer, whose whereabouts are unknown at this time. (EPC)
