The Image of Our Lady of Loreto is on pilgrimage through airports all over the world

This pilgrimage began with the Jubilee started on December 8, 2019, with the inauguration ceremony of the Holy Door of the Shrine of the Holy House of Loreto.

Newsroom (November 23, 2021, 4:25 PM, Gaudium Press) After travelling through airports around the world for two years, the ‘Peregrinatio Mariae’, a pilgrimage with the image of Our Lady of Loreto, comes to an end this December.

They have been two long and difficult years in the midst of a pandemic that forced some moments of pause, but the image has often represented a desire for rebirth in a world so in need of the Blessed Mother’s blessings.

Two years on pilgrimage around the world

This pilgrimage began with the Jubilee started on December 8, 2019, with the inauguration ceremony of the Holy Door of the Shrine of the Holy House of Loreto. The communities that welcomed the Marian image reported moments of prayer and celebration.

This pilgrimage had the direct participation of the main air agencies of Italy and also the support of the Italian Bishops’ Conference, in particular, in organizing air travel between the national airports to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Italian Air Force.

Closing ceremony of the pilgrimage

The closing ceremony of the pilgrimage of the image of Our Lady of Loreto is scheduled to take place on December 2 at Ancona Falconara’s “Raffaello Sanzio” airport in the Landing Terminal. The two images, which have toured the airports of Italy and the world, will arrive at 10:30 am.

Several civil and religious authorities have confirmed their presence at the ceremony, among them are Archbishop Angelo Spina of Ancona, who will preside a moment of prayer, and the Papal Delegate of Loreto, Archbishop Fabio Dal Cin. On this occasion, an image of Our Lady of Loreto will be blessed and will remain on display at the airport. (EPC)
