Newsroom (01/04/2025, Gaudium Press) On Tuesday, April 1st, the Vatican Press Office issued an update regarding the health of Pope Francis, who has been recovering at Casa Santa Marta in Vatican City since being discharged from the Gemelli Hospital on March 23rd. The latest report provides positive news about his condition.
Current Health Status of Pope Francis
The Vatican’s bulletin reveals that the Pope’s health is stable. Blood tests show normal values, and recent chest X-rays indicate improvement in the pulmonary infection. His ongoing medical treatments continue to show progress, especially in motor skills, respiratory function, and voice. High-flow oxygen is used mostly during the night and when needed.
Pope Francis Remains in Good Spirits and Continues to Co-Celebrate Mass
Despite his health challenges, Pope Francis remains in high spirits, receiving much affection from those around him. His daily routine includes sitting at his desk for work-related activities, and he continues to co-celebrate the Holy Mass each morning in the chapel at Casa Santa Marta. He has not received any special visitors, apart from his healthcare team and close collaborators.
What’s Next for Pope Francis
The Vatican has outlined Pope Francis’s upcoming schedule. For the General Audience next Wednesday, a reflection text will be distributed, as it has in previous weeks. Additionally, a new bulletin will be issued on April 4th, detailing the Angelus. However, it’s still too early to confirm whether Pope Francis will participate in the Holy Week ceremonies. The Pope is preparing a homily for the upcoming Mass for the Jubilee of the Sick, which will be read by Bishop Fisichella.
