In addition to the Bishop, there are 10 Priests Imprisoned by the Regime
The Cardinal expressed that the bishop’s situation will have a solution: “The Lord, in the midst of our problems, of difficult situations, always finds a moment in which he makes himself present.
“The strength of the humble is the Lord, (it is) to trust fully in the Lord, not in strategies, not in human means, not in the logic of this world, not in calculations, not in great speeches, not in applause, no,” Cardinal Brenes stressed at the Mass celebrated in the Cathedral.
The cardinal had visited Bishop Álvarez after the prelate’s arrival in Managua, after police forces removed him from the curia of Matagalpa in the early morning hours of August 19.
After visiting him in his house arrest, Cardinal Brenes said Bishop Alvarez was in poor health.
The Ortega Regime’s Relations with the Church are more than Strained
After the expulsion of Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity and the arrest of the Bishop of Matagalpa, the clergy of the Diocese of Estelí, of which Bishop Rolando Álvarez is administrator, published a communiqué in which they demanded the release of “the bishop, priests and laity, and the Lord will have mercy on you if you will be converted from your hearts.”
