New Swiss Guard chaplain appointed by the Pope

Father Kolumban Reichlin will assume his new duties as of October 1, 2021.

Newsroom (September 2, 2021 9:30 AM Gaudium Press) Yesterday, September 1, Pope Francis appointed Father Kolumban Reichlin OSB as the new chaplain of the Swiss Pontifical Guard.

He was born on March 2, 1971, in Switzerland. In the year 1991, he entered the monastery in Einsiedeln. He completed his theological studies in Einsiedeln and St. Meinrad (USA) and was ordained a priest in 1997.

Later he studied history and liturgical science in Bern, Freiburg and Rome. In the monastery, he held many roles, in particular, that of pilgrimage director. He was also noted for his commitment to various commissions for liturgy.

From 2009 to 2020 he was rector of St. Gerold in Vorarlberg (Austria), which belongs to the monastery of Einsiedeln. Fr. Kolumban Reichlin will take over the new duties as of October 1. (EPC)
