One of the most famous phrases of this Saint is a categorical statement: “He who prays is saved. He who does not pray is condemned.

Newsroom (01/08/2022 16:50, Gaudium Press) Today, August 1st, the Catholic Church celebrates the liturgical memory of St. Alphonsus Mary de Liguori, Bishop, Doctor of the Church and founder of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (the Redemptorists).

This Saint published one hundred and twenty works, among books and treatises. The main ones are: “Moral Theology”; “Glories of Mary”, “Visits to the Blessed Sacrament”; and “Treatise on Prayer”. We reproduce below ten phrases of this Saint about Prayer.

01 – “He who prays is saved. He who does not pray condemns himself”.

02 – “To know how to live is to know how to pray.

03 – “Prayer is the only way to obtain the necessary aids for salvation”.

04 – “There is no means more necessary and more effective to overcome the temptations against angelic virtue than the immediate recourse to God through prayer”.

05 – “Can’t you pray? What better prayer than to look at the crucifix from time to time and offer the pains you endure by uniting the little you suffer to the immense pains of Jesus Christ on the cross?”

06 – “All those who save themselves, speaking to adults, ordinarily it is only through prayer that they can save themselves.”

07 – “The grace of prayer is ordinarily given to everyone, and through prayer, everyone can obtain from God the other aids necessary for salvation”.

08 – “With prayer, we obtain the remedy for our weakness, because if we ask God, we will obtain the strength to do what we cannot”.

09. “There are so many souls who lose the divine grace and continue to live in sin, and finally condemn themselves, because they have not prayed and have not turned to God for help!
