St. Augustine’s Seminary has been evacuated, one of the multiple Toronto schools that received bomb threats this morning, Toronto police report.

Newsroom (05/05/2026 Gaudium Press ) Toronto police are investigating a series of bomb threats targeting multiple schools across the city, prompting evacuations Tuesday morning, including at St. Augustine’s Seminary and Bruce Jr. Public School.

Authorities confirmed that 11 schools received threats, all believed to have been made by the same individual over the phone. Despite the scale of the incident, police emphasized there is no evidence suggesting the threats are credible.

St. Augustine’s Seminary in Scarborough was among the institutions evacuated after receiving what officials described as a threatening voicemail. The Archdiocese of Toronto stated that the message was immediately reported to police, triggering a swift response.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the building was evacuated and police were onsite quickly to conduct a thorough investigation,” the Archdiocese said. Following a police “all clear,” faculty, students, and staff were allowed to return.

Bruce Jr. Public School in Toronto’s Leslieville neighbourhood was also evacuated as part of the coordinated response. Both locations have since been cleared, with normal activities resuming after police completed their assessments.

Investigators say they are actively working to identify the individual responsible for the threats. While the incidents caused disruption, authorities reiterated that there is currently no indication of a real danger.

St. Augustine’s Seminary, founded in 1913, serves as the major seminary of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto. Built on land once owned by farmer Adna Pherrill and funded by philanthropist Eugene O’Keefe, the seminary is known for its Beaux-Arts architecture designed by Arthur W. Holmes. The institution plays a central role in preparing candidates for priesthood and other ministries within the Catholic Church.

Officials from the Archdiocese expressed gratitude for the rapid response by emergency services and confirmed their continued cooperation with law enforcement as the investigation proceeds.

Police have not released further details about the suspect or potential charges but say updates will follow as the investigation develops.
