The event will address the theological, pastoral, and spiritual aspects of exorcism as a sacrament as well as the differences and similarities between the prayer for healing and the prayer for deliverance.

Rome – Italy (03/06/2026 15:02, Gaudium Press) Between May 11 and 15, the 20th edition of the “Course on the Ministry of Exorcism and the Prayer of Deliverance” will be held in Rome, organized by the Sacerdos Institute of the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum and the Socio-Religious Research and Information Group of Bologna.

The objective of the international-level meeting is to address in a systematic and scientific way the anthropological, phenomenological, social, theological, liturgical, canonical, pastoral, spiritual, medical, neuroscientific, pharmacological, symbolic, criminological, legal, and juridical dimensions related to the ministry of exorcism and the prayer of deliverance.

Content that will be debated and explored

Among the contents that will be debated are: the role of Artificial Intelligence in magical-occult rituals, the close links between pedophilia, child pornography, and satanic rites, and the direct relationship between alternative therapies (many of which are part of the vast cultural and spiritual movement of the New Age) and occult phenomena.

Throughout the event, the following themes will also be addressed: the figure of angels and demons in Sacred Scripture; the theological, pastoral, and spiritual aspects of the theology of exorcism as a sacrament; the role of the Bishop in the ministry of exorcism; and the differences and similarities between prayer for healing and prayer for deliverance, to cite only a few.

Course intended for consecrated and lay people

The fundamental topics mentioned above, often forgotten and increasingly ignored over the years, will be deepened and clarified through presentations of studies by exorcists, theologians, canon lawyers, physicians, criminologists, jurists, and law-enforcement agents from around the world.

This course, which will be intended for consecrated persons and lay people, will also seek to highlight the importance of the presence of a psychologist in the team of assistants who support the exorcist, as well as the role of Mary in the fight against the action of the demon. Special attention will be given “to the accompaniment of lay people involved in the ministry of deliverance,” (EPC).

The event will address the theological, pastoral, and spiritual aspects of exorcism as a sacrament and the differences and similarities between prayer for healing and prayer for deliverance.
