Newsroom (07/09/2022 10:12, Gaudium Press) The Pontifical Representatives from around the world have been summoned to participate in a meeting with Pope Francis from 7 to 10 September. The proceeding of this event, which takes place every three years, has been confirmed by the Holy See Press Office.
Cardinal Pietro Parolin will be responsible for presiding over the opening Holy Mass of the meeting next Wednesday, 7 September, at 8am in the Choir Chapel of St. Peter’s Basilica. This first day will be dedicated to meetings with the superiors of the Secretariat of State and some heads of the Roman Curia. The activities of this day will conclude with a meeting with the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Holy See.
Meeting and Mass with Pope Francis
At 9am on Thursday, 8 September, the Nuncios will be received in audience by Pope Francis in the Apostolic Palace. Work will continue until 7pm, when the Pope’s representatives will participate in solemn Vespers in the Sistine Chapel. On Friday, work is scheduled for groups divided by individual continents.
On Saturday, 10 September, at 7.30 am, there will be a Holy Mass presided over by Pope Francis at Casa Santa Marta. This will be followed by meetings and work that will conclude at midday with a spiritual meditation led by Monsignor Angelo Acerbi, Apostolic Nuncio.
Diplomatic service of the Holy See
According to a press release from the Vatican Press Office, the meeting will be attended by the Superiors of the Secretariat of State, 91 Apostolic Nuncios, and six Permanent Observers without episcopal qualification. There are five papal representatives who will not be able to attend for health reasons or other impediments.
Besides the Apostolic Nuncios, the diplomatic service of the Holy See is currently composed of 167 diplomatic collaborators working in the Nunciatures or the Secretariat of State. There are four students from the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy who are involved in the missionary year abroad, which is desired by Pope Francis.(EPC)
