This year’s Missionary Novena brings about the prospect of the new reality imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Newsdesk (June 16, 2021 20:13, Gaudium Press) The Missionary Novena 2021 is now available on the official site of the Pontifical Mission Societies. Following the theme “Jesus Christ is Mission” and the motto “We cannot but speak about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20), it deals with the witness of missionaries of compassion and hope.
Novena presents the panorama imposed by the pandemic
This year’s Missionary Novena also presents the panorama of the new reality imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has highlighted the suffering, loneliness, poverty and injustices of many people who were already suffering from these evils before.
Videos produced for the missionary campaign feature the testimonies of anonymous people on the pandemic’s front lines. Among these people are healthcare professionals, grieving families, street and abandoned people, indigenous migrants; educators,
workers, and local and universal solidarity among missionaries.
The Missionary Collection will be held in all the churches around the world
In addition to prayer, the initiative also invites us to practice solidarity. As a concrete gesture, on October 23 and 24, a missionary collection will be held in all the churches globally. This collection will allocate funds to the mission of compassion.
On the official website of the Mission Campaign, visitors can also read the message sent by Pope Francis on the occasion of World Mission Day and access the accounts of the missionary collection in the world. (EPC)
