In the Philippines, Massive Consecration of Families to St Joseph

The country’s Bishops’ Conference has scheduled that a Eucharistic celebration following the national consecration.

Philippines – Manila (15/11/2021 10:20 AM, Gaudium Press) Next December 8, 2021, the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Catholic Church in the Philippines will consecrate families to St. Joseph.

Consecration to St. Joseph

According to the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), consecrating families to St. Joseph “is an act of trust to his fatherly care, protection and guidance.” The purpose of this consecration is “to imitate St. Joseph’s virtue, example and closeness to Christ.”

Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, president of the CBCP, will lead the consecration ceremony, held at the San Roque Cathedral in Caloocan City. The event will start with the recitation of the Holy Rosary, followed by the act of consecration itself.

Closing the Year of Saint Joseph

The celebration will be broadcast live via the Facebook pages of CBCP News, Radio Veritas, TV Maria and other Catholic social media platforms. All Bishops, priests, religious and Catholic families are expected to participate in the online event.

The occasion will also mark the closing of the “Year of St. Joseph,” which started on December 8, 2019, honouring the saint’s proclamation as the patron saint of the Universal Church. On May 1 this year, the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, the bishops, also consecrated the nation to Jesus’ adoptive father. (EPC)
