Vatican City (Thursday, 09.18.2014, Gaudium Press) At morning Mass celebrated at Casa Santa Marta, on Thursday, 18th, Pope Francis said during his homily that the courage to admit our sins opens doors to Jesus’ affection and forgiveness.

Commenting on the daily reading of the Gospel of Luke, which tells the story of the woman sinner who washes Jesus’ feet with her tears and anoints them with perfume, the Pontiff observed that Our Lord had been invited to go to the house of a Pharisee, who was considered to be a person of high social and cultural level, but who wished to hear Jesus’ doctrine.
According to the Pope, the privileged place for the encounter with Jesus Christ is in our sins.
“Recognizing our sins, acknowledging our misery, being aware of what we are and what we can do, or have done, is precisely the door that opens the way to Jesus’ affection, to Jesus’ forgiveness, to the Word of Jesus,” he said.
The Pontiff also advised to those who feel that they are sinners to open their hearts “in the confession of sins, to the encounter with Jesus, who gave His blood for us all.” (LMI / AH)
