Given a bad prognosis by doctors, nun is cured through the intercession of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski. The miracle that raised him to the altars
Poland – Warsaw (19/10/2021 17:00 – Gaudium Press) Sister Nulla. was among the faithful who attended the beatification ceremony of Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski this week.
In 1986, the 19-year-old Nulla entered the Disciples of the Cross congregation to serve God. During her preparation to take vows, the nun realised that her health was not so good: “I sensed that something was not right, but I didn’t really worry.
Terrible diagnosis
The medical diagnosis was terrible. An advanced thyroid cancer with metastasis all over her body left her with little hope.
The religious underwent a few operations, but shortly afterwards the discovery of a new tumour in her throat left her only a few days or, at the most, three months.
Novena of prayer to the Polish Cardinal
Nulla’s condition worsened each day to the point that the community was mobilising to prepare for the funeral. At the same time, the superior ordered a novena of prayers asking for the cure of the sick woman through the intercession of Cardinal Wyszynki, who died in 1981, but who was already famous for his holiness.
For several days the community recited a prayer to the Polish Cardinal nine times. Finally, on the evening of 14 March 1989, after some haemorrhaging, the doctors found that the tumour had begun to disappear. A week later Sister Nulla returned to the convent, completely cured!
25 years after her illness and prognosis of death, she joyfully contemplates the beatification of Cardinal Wyszynki. (FM)
