Several Catholics took part in the initiative to make this ambitious and pious undertaking a reality.
Lebanon – Beirut (20/05/2024 15:00, Gaudium Press) On the occasion of the liturgical Feast of Our Lady of the Sea, a gigantic Holy Rosary was assembled by a Catholic in the coastal town of Bouar, located in southwest Lebanon. Joe Abdel Sater had the help of family and friends to accomplish this devout achievement.
Difficulties in Getting the Project Off the Ground
After months of contemplating the sea every day, Sater had the inspiration to build a Rosary on the surface of the water. Father Ferez Tawk blessed the initiative, which also had the support of the mayor. Despite this, Sater had numerous difficulties in getting this ambitious undertaking off the ground.
“For a month I wondered which materials to use: wood or foam? How could I protect the shape of the Rosary from the changing currents? Divine providence made things easier,” he recalled.
Reflection on the Beads of the Holy Rosary
During the celebration of the feast of Our Lady of the Sea on May 11, Father Tawk reflected on the symbolism of the Holy Rosary. “On their own, the Rosary beads lose their meaning. As faithful Catholics, we are those beads and our community unites us through the turbulent waves of life,” he said.
“Without this communion, even the strongest believer can be swept away. But walking together, with Jesus as our anchor, we can weather any storm and find redemption. In this way, we become like Mary, who remained firm in her faith under the Cross, understanding that Jesus’ sacrifice is the beginning of salvation,” he concluded. (EPC)
