Newsroom (09/04/2025 Gaudium Press) As of April 8, 2025, Pope Francis, aged 88, continues his recovery at the Casa Santa Marta. Following a 38-day hospitalization at Rome’s Gemelli Hospital, his health has shown stability with minor improvements.
Health Status: Stability and Improvements
The Holy See Press Office reports that Pope Francis’ condition is stable, with slight enhancements in motor skills, respiratory function, and voice. He receives high-flow oxygen therapy at night when necessary. Clinically, he remains stable, and motor and respiratory treatments continue as planned.
Daily Activities and Work
Pope Francis maintains a routine of treatments, work, prayer, daily Mass, and rest. He stays engaged with various Vatican departments, reviews documents, and has gradually resumed some meetings. On April 8, he met with Cardinal Parolin, the Secretary of State.
Upcoming Holy Week Celebrations
The Holy See has not announced plans for Pope Francis’ participation in Holy Week ceremonies. As in previous weeks, the catechesis text for the upcoming Wednesday will be provided to the faithful. The next health briefing is scheduled for April 11. Pope Francis continues his recovery with ongoing treatments and daily activities, reflecting his commitment to his papal duties and spiritual life.
