Over 50 Spanish companies consecrate themselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, embracing a bold vision of faith-driven corporate culture.
Madrid, June 25, 2025 (Gaudium Press) – The Sacred Heart of Jesus desires not only to reign in churches, but also in offices, workshops, and boardrooms. More than 50 Spanish companies took a public step of faith by consecrating themselves to His love in a solemn act of devotion and transformation.
A 300-Year-Old Desire for Hearts
Over three centuries ago, the Sacred Heart revealed itself to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque at Paray-le-Monial, France. He expressed His burning desire to reign in human hearts and promised special graces to those who trusted in Him and promoted His devotion. Since then, the Sacred Heart has become a universal symbol of divine love and mercy.
The image depicts Christ’s open chest, revealing His visible, wounded, and blazing heart—a heart that never stops beating for humanity and longs to dwell not only in temples, but in hearts, homes, and now in businesses.
Faith and Business Hand-in-Hand
Believers among entrepreneurs are increasingly seeking to align their professional decisions with the faith. This intent was demonstrated on June 21, during the Second National Consecration of Companies to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, held at the Basilica of the Great Promise in Valladolid—a place of immense spiritual significance where the Sacred Heart made a prophetic promise to Blessed Bernardo de Hoyos in 1733:
“I will reign in Spain, and with greater veneration than elsewhere.”
The event was presided over by Archbishop Luis Argüello, president of the Spanish bishops’ conference. It was organized by the Spanish branch of the international His Way at Work (HWAW) movement, originating in the US and present across Latin America, with over 300 companies and 500,000 employees involved globally.
This second consecration far surpassed the first held in April 2024, where only 12 businesses participated. Now, entrepreneurs from across Madrid, Granada, Tenerife, Alicante, Catalonia, Seville, the Basque Country, and others, united with a shared vision: to place God’s love at the heart of business life.
Consecration as the First Step in a Journey of Transformation
The consecration marks the beginning of a deep cultural and spiritual transformation. Business leaders publicly commit to revisiting their corporate cultures inspired by Catholic Social Teaching. The goal? Profitable, ethical, and human-centered companies, rooted in human dignity and oriented toward the common good.
HWAW Spain also promotes the Zacchaeus Retreat, a high-impact spiritual experience for business leaders created with Fr. Siegrist. Following the success of its first edition, a second retreat is planned for July.
HWAW Spain operates on three pillars:
-
Consecration and Retreats – deep spiritual renewal for leaders
-
Business Forums – peer sharing and community building
-
Methodological Support – structured tools for cultural transformation
After the consecration, companies are encouraged to formally join HWAW and begin systematically implementing Christian values into their corporate cultures—a bold move in uncertain times, proving that faith and the business world are not incompatible, but can thrive together to build hope, justice, and true love in the workplace.
