Pope Leo XIV reflects on Divine Revelation, urging the faithful to trust in God’s love as he continues his catechesis on Dei Verbum.

Newsroom (21/01/2026 Gaudium Press ) In a message rich with spiritual depth and theological reflection, Pope Leo XIV returned to the heart of Christian faith during his weekly General Audience at the Vatican’s Audience Hall on Wednesday, 21 January 2026. Continuing his catechesis on Dei Verbum, the Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation from the Second Vatican Council, the Pope reminded the faithful that “nothing can separate us from the love of Christ,” urging believers to entrust themselves to the Father with boundless trust.

The Holy Father invited the faithful to contemplate the central mystery of revelation—the Word made flesh. Drawing from Dei Verbum, he emphasized that God’s self-disclosure throughout history through words and deeds finds its ultimate expression in the incarnation of the Son. “The most intimate truth revealed about God and human salvation,” the Pope recalled, “shines forth in Christ, who is himself both the mediator and the fulfilment of revelation.”

Through the incarnation, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Pope said, humanity is invited into divine intimacy. In seeing the Son, believers also see the Father, and by the Spirit’s action, they are welcomed into that same familial relationship with God. “By accepting this invitation,” Pope Leo XIV affirmed, “we become sons and daughters through the Son and participants in God’s nature.”

He urged those present to cherish this identity with gratitude and reverence—a reminder that faith is not merely an adherence to doctrines but a living communion with God. “Let us be filled with gratitude as we ponder our sublime vocation as God’s beloved children,” he concluded, pointing to a faith that rests on trust, not fear.

At the close of the Audience, Pope Leo XIV extended a warm greeting to all English-speaking pilgrims and visitors, notably those from Great Britain, the Netherlands, and the United States of America. His words carried particular resonance amid the ongoing Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Addressing the Ecumenical Delegation of the Catholic Association for Ecumenism and the Council of Churches of the Netherlands, the Pope encouraged all present to persevere in prayer for unity among Christians.

“Upon all of you and your families,” he said, “I invoke the joy and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you all.”

As the gathering concluded, the papal message left a clear imprint: in an age of uncertainty and division, the love of Christ endures as the unbreakable bond between God and humanity.
