The Beatification Ceremony Will be Presided Over by Cardinal Marcello Semenaro, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Twelve Martyred Redemptorists Will Be Beatified in Spain.
Madrid, Spain(18/10/2022 16:39, Gaudium Press) Saturday, October 22, the beatification ceremony will be held for twelve Redemptorists who were martyred in Madrid in 1936. The religious act will take place during the celebration of a Solemn Mass in the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Real de Almudena, at 11am (local time).
Cardinal Marcello Semenaro
The prefect of the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints, Cardinal Marcello Semenaro, will preside over the beatification. The event will be concelebrated by the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Carlos Osoro; the Superior General of the Redemptorists, Rogerio Gomes; the Provincial Superior of Madrid, Francisco Javier Caballero; and the pastor of Perpetual Help, Damián Cubillo.
Process of Beatification
Opened in September 2006, the diocesan phase of the beatification process was completed in November 2007. The approval of the decree of martyrdom was authorized by Pope Francis on April 24, 2021. The twelve religious (priests and consecrated) died between July 20 and November 7, 1936.
Life Testimony
According to Antonio Manuel Quesada, vice postulator of the cause of beatification, the new blessed leave four messages with their life witness: first, fidelity to the faith; second, generosity; third, forgiveness; and fourth, reconciliation. (EPC)
