Newsroom (September 11, 2025, Gaudium Press) – The world remains shaken after the assassination yesterday of Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old pro-life activist in the United States. He was struck in the neck by a sniper’s bullet while speaking at the campus of Utah Valley University. Kirk, who married Erika Frantzve in 2021, leaves behind two children.
Although not Catholic, Kirk frequently attended Mass, encouraged by his Catholic wife, Erika.

In response to the tragedy, the President of the United States ordered official flags to fly at half-mast in mourning.
Statement from Bishop Barron
“I am heartbroken by the news of Charlie Kirk’s death,” wrote Bishop Robert Barron on social media. “My prayers flow from the depths of my heart for his family, especially his dear wife and children. May Christ our Savior receive Charlie into His heavenly kingdom, and may the Lord and His mercy be our comfort and strength.”
On Sunday, September 7, just days before his death, Kirk posted a brief message on X: “Jesus defeated death so that you may live.” His references to Jesus were frequent.
