Beijing Diocese Sacred Sound Choir marks April with two major concerts, featuring Vivaldi’s Gloria and organ performances that inspired audiences.

Newsroom (07/05/2026 Gaudium Press ) April drew to a quiet and graceful close as the Beijing Diocese Sacred Sound Choir completed a month marked by two significant musical events, blending classical tradition with spiritual reflection. Through choral masterpieces and organ performances, the choir offered audiences a rich encounter with sacred music rooted in history and emotion.

On April 18, the choir joined the Beijing French Choir for a collaborative concert that brought together shared musical traditions. The program featured classic choral and organ works spanning the Baroque and Classical periods, highlighting both technical precision and expressive depth. At the center of the performance was a full rendition of Antonio Vivaldi’s renowned choral composition Gloria, a 30-minute work celebrated for its enduring vitality and structure.

Throughout the evening, pure harmonies interwove with the grandeur of Baroque sacred music. The melodies, at once solemn and lively, filled the hall with a sense of reverence and energy, offering listeners a vivid interpretation of historical repertoire.

A week later, on April 25, the focus shifted to the organ, as the choir presented a concert dedicated to the instrument’s rich tonal landscape. Two organists from the choir, joined by guest musician Lu Xiangcheng, delivered a performance characterized by precision and unity. The pipe organ’s resonant sound unfolded gradually, creating an atmosphere described as both serene and solemn, inviting reflection and inner calm.

During the intermission, pianist Wang Jue provided the audience with an in-depth introduction to the history and structure of the Beitang pipe organ. This segment offered contextual insight, enhancing appreciation for the instrument’s craftsmanship and its role within sacred music traditions.

As April came to a close, the series of performances stood as a reflection of dedication and artistic sincerity. Each piece carried a sense of purpose, and each performance underscored the collective effort behind the scenes. With gratitude extended to audiences and contributors alike, the choir marked the end of the month not as a conclusion, but as a continuation of its musical mission.

While April has passed, the resonance of sacred music endures, with the choir committed to gathering through music and serving through sound in the years ahead.
