Croatian bishops led a historic consecration to the Sacred Heart, followed by the first youth consecration to Mary’s Immaculate Heart on June 28, 2025.

On Friday, June 27, Croatian bishops led a solemn consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, commemorating the 125th anniversary of a remarkable 1900 ceremony in which 160,000 Croatian youth made a similar sacred pledge.
The consecration began at 7 p.m. in churches and chapels across Croatia, with five minutes of bell ringing before the solemn Eucharistic celebrations.
Following the Prayer After Communion, the clergy proclaimed the Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
In Zagreb, the faithful gathered in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, while EWTN affiliate Laudato TV broadcast live from the Church of Our Miraculous Lady of Sinj in the small town of Sinj.
The Croatian Bishops’ Conference decided to renew this historic devotion during its 69th Plenary Assembly in November 2024, marking the Jubilee Year of 2025.
“Nosotros, creyentes croatas, confiando en tu bondad, venimos a ti para que nos abras de nuevo tu Sacratísimo Corazón,” begins the consecration prayer, addressing Christ as “Wisdom, Love and Word of the Father.”
Archbishop Giorgio Lingua, Apostolic Nuncio to Croatia, presided over the 3 p.m. ceremony, broadcast live by Laudato TV. The initiative was led by priests from the Marian Priestly Movement in Croatia.
The communal prayer consecrated the Sacred Heart of Jesus over Croatian families, clergy, religious communities, parishes, marriages, children and youth, the sick and elderly, and workers from various sectors.
The day after the consecration to the Sacred Heart, on Saturday, June 28, Croatia witnessed its first solemn consecration of youth to the Immaculate Heart of Mary at the Church of Croatian Martyrs of Udbina.
