Newsroom (08/20/2025 20:38, Gaudium Press) The 31st Federal Assembly of Catholic Action Argentina brought together 5,000 people from 41 dioceses in that country in the city of San Miguel de Tucumán. The event, held from August 15 to 17, was an occasion for the renewal of the authorities of the lay institution.

The theme of the Assembly was “Pilgrims of Hope, Joyful in Mission,” and the opening Mass was presided over by the Archbishop of Mendoza and President of the Argentine Episcopal Conference, Monsignor Marcelo Colombo.

In his homily, the prelate highlighted “the importance of Catholic Action for the Church, due to its widespread presence throughout the country” and asked that “this widespread presence help us to bear witness and to give signs of hope in a fragmented world,” encouraging those present to be “builders of the common good, servants as bridges of dialogue, and pilgrims in the hope that does not disappoint.”

The program included catechesis, mission, celebrations, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and presentations. The closing Mass was celebrated by the host Archbishop, Carlos Sánchez, and concelebrated by several bishops.

Within this framework, the decree appointing the new authorities was read out. They will remain in office for the three-year period from 2025 to 2028. The leaders who will make up the Council and the National Commissions for Aspirants (Children), Youth, Adults, and Sectors, elected at the 73rd National Assembly held within the framework of the Federal Assembly, were also presented.

Claudia Carbajal, the new national president, encouraged those present with a message in which she assured them: “It is time for active hope that comes from encountering Jesus, who has become bread for all.”

“In the face of so many hurtful and cruel words, we want to proclaim the Word which, as good news, impels us ever more to a renewed mission in the midst of everyday life, where your commitment, yes, yours, hers, his, mine, can help transform the world,” she emphasized, inviting everyone to break down walls and create encounters.

The homily was given by the general advisor, Archbishop Jorge Lozano of San Juan, who urged that “this fire of the Holy Spirit, lit in our hearts, transform us into bearers of hope.”
