In Rome, young pilgrims will have the opportunity to prepare spiritually for a new encounter with Pope Leo XIV.
Newsroom (01/08/2025 09:26, Gaudium Press) — This Friday, August 1, the ancient arena of the Circus Maximus will be transformed into a large outdoor confession center. From 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the thousands of young people present in Rome will have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation as part of the Holy Year celebrations.
Confessions in different languages
This will allow young people to prepare spiritually for the important encounter with Pope Leo XIV, scheduled for the upcoming Saturday and Sunday on the Tor Vergata Esplanade. In total, 200 confessionals will be available for the youth, with priests ready to hear them in different languages.
Young pilgrims who speak Italian, Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, and Polish will have access to confessionals in their own language throughout the day. Pilgrims who speak German, Hungarian, Slovak, Korean, and Chinese will have access to confessionals during specific hours.
Distribution of a book on the Sacrament of Confession
Moreover, along the “Penitential Way”, twenty volunteers from the ‘Youcat’ Foundation will distribute 10,000 Youcat copies, the youth catechism of the Church. The special edition of the book, published for the Youth Jubilee, will be available in the following languages: Italian, English, French, and German.
Youcat, first published in 2014, has been updated for the occasion, with new content on confession. The book aims to offer young people an accessible approach to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This new edition includes an examination of conscience, explanations of the meaning of confession, and some useful prayers. (EPC)
