The Vatican Governorate debuts an app honoring St. Carlo Acutis, offering faster, mobile access to official news and institutional updates.

Newsroom (04/01/2026 Gaudium Press )  The Governorate of Vatican City State has released a new official mobile application dedicated to St. Carlo Acutis, combining digital innovation with the example of a saint who embodied faith through technology. The app, now available for free download, offers a faster and more intuitive way to access the institutional website www.vaticanstate.va and its official communications.

Developed to make information more accessible and user-friendly on smartphones and tablets, the app allows users to browse news, announcements, and other Vatican materials with simplified navigation and push notifications for updates. It features dedicated sections including the saint of the day, interviews, videos, and direct links to prominent Governorate institutions such as the Vatican Museums, Pharmacy, Post, Pontifical Villas, and Observatory. Additional updates and new features are planned for future releases.

The initiative is part of the broader digital transformation promoted by the Governorate, underscoring the Vatican’s commitment to transparency, participation, and modern communication tools. By making institutional information available through innovative means, the Vatican aims to strengthen its outreach and engagement with people across the world.

The app’s dedication to St. Carlo Acutis carries particular symbolism. Born in London in 1991 and raised in Milan, Acutis was known for his deep faith, kindness, and extraordinary aptitude for computers. As a teenager, he used his skills to create websites documenting Eucharistic miracles and promoting devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. After his death from leukemia at age 15, Acutis’s life quickly became an inspiration for young Catholics worldwide.

In 2020, Pope Francis beatified Acutis in Assisi, recognizing him as the first “millennial saint” for his witness in the digital age. His canonization, formally approved by the Vatican in 2025, highlighted his enduring message that “the Internet can be used to spread goodness and faith.”

By dedicating the new app to St. Carlo Acutis, the Vatican Governorate honors his vision of using technology in service of truth and unity—a fitting tribute to a young saint who showed how digital tools can bring people closer to God.
