Today, August 19, the Catholic Church celebrates the memory of St. John Eudes, founder of the Congregation of Jesus and Mary and of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd.
Newsroom (August 19, 2021 09:28, Gaudium Press) Born on November 14, 1601 in the small village of Ri, in northern France, John Eudes studied with the Jesuit fathers, dedicating daily time to prayer in the school chapel.

Saint John Eudes is considered as the precursor of the cult to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary, having dedicated himself to the preaching of this devotion during his missions. This Saint died on August 19, 1680.

The first is to have compassion for the misery of the other, because it is the one who takes into his heart the miseries of the miserable who is merciful. The second is to have a determined will to help them in their misery. The third is to pass from the will to action.
