With free registration, the retreat will follow the theme: “I am the Angel of Peace. Pray with me”.
Newsroom (July 28, 2021 6:01 PM Gaudium Press) Between August 20 and 22, 2021 the Shrine of Fatima will promote a spiritual retreat centred on prayer as the source of life. The theme will be “I am the Angel of Peace. Pray with me”. The event is free of charge.
Taking as a starting point the challenge made by the Angel to the Little Shepherds in 1916, when he presented himself as the Angel of Peace and invited them to prayer, the retreat will take place at the retreat house of Our Lady of Carmel, and will be led by the Shrine’s chaplain, Fr. Francisco Pereira.
A moment of spiritual experience in the light of the message of Fatima
Promoted by the Shrine School, the initiative aims to provide a moment of spiritual experience in the light of the message of Fatima. The program will begin in the late afternoon of Friday, August 20 and will end on Sunday, August 22.
“In times of tribulation and difficulty humanity has always raised its voice to the heights in search of salvation. Today, the circumstances of our lives highlight and make even more pressing this need to find peace,” says a note introducing the retreat.
Prayer is a unique way to reach peace
The organizers of the initiative recall that “prayer, a unique means to reach that desired peace, thus becomes an anchor that calms and stabilizes a tumultuous and uncertain life, bringing us face to face with Him who is Peace. Fatima is a school of prayer, said Pope Benedict XVI. In this retreat, we will make, with the Little Shepherds and like them, a prayerful journey, punctuated by moments of meditation and personal reflection, prayer and sharing, seeking precisely to learn from that school and to live what it teaches us,” concludes the statement.
