France recorded 1400 anti-religious acts during 2021, French Interior Minister Gérard Darmanin reported

Newsroom (December 19, 2021, 2:00 PM, Gaudium Press) Some 1400 anti-religious acts were recorded in France from January to October 2021. The figure was revealed by French Interior Minister Gérard Darmanin last Tuesday, December 14, to CNews.

Although the number is high, a decrease of 17% was noted compared to the same period in 2019. The statement details the acts committed against the different religions. Against Christians a decrease is noted: 921 anti-Christian acts were committed in 2019 versus 686 in 2021.

The minister reported that last December 8, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, worshippers participating in a procession between two churches in Nanterre, were insulted and threatened by several people.

Gérard Darmanin said he encouraged the diocese to denounce the occurrence and said that the death threats were “completely unacceptable.” (FM)
